Nagham Abu Samra is a Palestinian karate champion from Gaza who had a dream of representing Palestine in sport international platforms. However, her life was cut short by the Israeli genocide in Gaza.
"Nagham of Gaza" is a documentary and a theatrical play written and directed by Palestinian award-winning filmmaker Ala'a Al Qaisi, that chronicles Nagham Abu Samra's life.
In this conversation, Ala'a engages with Marwan Abu Samra, Nagham's father, to talk about the life of Nagham, his loss, and why it is important to amplify her story through art and film.

This episode is dedicated to the Palestinian 3-year old girl Reem Nabhan - Soul of My Soul - who was killed in Gaza by an Israeli air strike in November 2023. In her farewell, her grand father, Khaled was holding her small fragile dead body as he kissed her angelic face and eyes goodbye. Videos of Reem and her grandfather Khaled went viral on the social media.
Her grandfather, Khaled Nabhan, was killed last week in an Israeli airstrike on Gaza. He’s finally reunited with Reem: the soul of his soul.
